Pacific Building Group is looking for a Payroll Manager to join our team! The ideal candidate can work independently to ensure error free payroll for all employees as well as work closely with the accounting team creating a supportive culture within the department and throughout the company. The Payroll Manager is the main contact for all payroll questions and should embody an internal customer service mindset and be willing to help whenever needed.
Job Responsibilities includes (but may not be limited to):
- Weekly Full Cycle Payroll
- Audit and enter timecard entries into Sage 300 CRE
- Audit prevailing wage entries to ensure accurate fringe accruals and processing.
- Ensure accuracy of all entries before uploading direct deposit files to bank for processing
- Process and enter miscellaneous weekly payments (garnishments, 401k, etc.)
- Process weekly tax payments
- Monthly payroll accounting reconciliations
- Reconcile monthly payroll general ledger accounts
- Reconcile and submit payroll related bills to AP for processing (health insurance, FSA accounts, etc)
- Prevailing Wage
- Ensure correct wages are being utilized on all state and federal funded jobs
- Assist project teams to ensure prevailing wage requirements are being met
- Upload payroll records, fringe benefit statements, and other documents as needed to Labor Compliance Software (LCP Tracker, Prism, Etc.) as needed
- Work with project team to quickly and accurately respond to any prevailing wage project audits
- Health Insurance
- Using online Benefit Portal (Paychex Flock) monitor all new enrollments to ensure deductions are entered timely into the payroll software.
- New Hires
- Onboard and process all new hires ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
- Monitor and respond to all unemployment claims as needed
- Maintain Vacation Calendar
- Provide information for various audits as needed (Census, EDD, Worker’s Compensation)
- Maintain electronic employee files in Sage Paperless.
- Process and transmit all quarterly tax forms.
- Year End Administration
- Reconcile, close year in accounting software, and process and transmit W-2s
- Process and transmit ACA forms.
Requirements
- 5-7 years experience with in-house full-cycle payroll.
- Experience with Sage 300 and Sage Paperless preferred.
- Possess experience with construction payroll and an understanding of California Prevailing Wage laws and regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of California Timekeeping and Labor Laws.
- Understanding of payroll accounting and general ledger reconciliations.
- Proficient with MS Office.
- Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast- paced environment.
- Effective multi-tasking ability, written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, outside third parties, and internal employees.
- Able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong teamwork skills. Must be able to maintain good relationships with peers, outside entities, and payroll vendors.
- Solid quantitative skills and capacity for analytical and critical thinking.

Salary
- $65,000 - $90,000 per year, based on experience.
