The Defense & Secure Facilities Superintendent provides field leadership and oversight for complex construction projects within secure, mission-critical, and high-technology environments. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards, security requirements, and client expectations.

Working closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory stakeholders, the Defense & Secure Facilities Superintendent leads construction activities in active and secure facilities, including defense, aerospace, government, laboratory, and SCIF environments. This position requires a strong understanding of secure facility construction, accreditation requirements, and the unique operational challenges associated with occupied and mission-critical facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Field Operations & Project Execution

• Direct and supervise all field personnel and subcontractors to achieve project completion in accordance with schedule, budget, quality, safety, and security requirements.

• Coordinate and oversee daily construction activities, subcontractor performance, inspections, and project logistics.

• Develop and maintain project schedules, look-ahead schedules, and field execution plans to support overall project objectives.

• Identify and proactively resolve field issues, conflicts, and constraints that may impact project performance.

• Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning activities, and project turnover requirements.

• Manage and coordinate self-performed work when applicable.

• Create and maintain site logistics, phasing, access, and material management plans.

• Ensure jobsite documentation, reporting, and communication are accurate, timely, and complete.

Secure Facilities & Technical Construction

• Lead field operations within secure, occupied, and mission-critical facilities while maintaining compliance with all security requirements and operational constraints.

• Coordinate construction activities with client security personnel, accreditation authorities, facility managers, military representatives, and other stakeholders.

• Support the construction, renovation, and accreditation of SCIFs and other secure environments in accordance with applicable government requirements and project specifications.

• Understand and implement security protocols, access restrictions, badging requirements, escort procedures, and documentation requirements associated with secure facilities.

• Coordinate work activities to minimize disruption to ongoing client operations and mission-critical functions.

• Support project teams in navigating secure facility requirements, inspections, and accreditation processes.

Safety, Quality & Risk Management

• Promote a culture of safety and accountability throughout the project site.

• Ensure all employees, subcontractors, and visitors adhere to company safety policies, security requirements, and project-specific regulations.

• Identify and immediately address safety concerns, quality issues, and project risks.

• Maintain an organized, clean, secure, and professional jobsite at all times.

• Perform quality control inspections and ensure work is completed in accordance with contract documents, specifications, security requirements, and client expectations.

Professionalism & Team Collaboration

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, facility personnel, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.

• Serve as Pacific Building Group's primary field representative, promoting effective communication, collaboration, and project success.

• Coordinate closely with project management teams, clients, and project stakeholders to support successful project execution.

Requirements

• 5+ years of construction supervision experience, including experience managing complex commercial, government, defense, aerospace, laboratory, healthcare, or mission-critical projects.

• Experience working within secure facilities, active operational environments, or projects requiring heightened security protocols.

• Experience constructing, renovating, or supporting accreditation efforts for SCIFs or other secure government facilities preferred.

• Familiarity working with government representatives, security personnel, accreditation authorities, military stakeholders, and facility operators.

• Strong understanding of construction scheduling, logistics planning, quality control, and field coordination.

• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, engineering documents, and construction schedules.

• Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project management software, scheduling software, and construction technology platforms.

• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances as required by project assignments.

Compensation for this position is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and relevant industry expertise. The anticipated salary range for this role is $100,000 to $155,000 annually.
